Named because of their winter coat (which changes to a darker coat during summer) these pets are rarer than the other Russian species.
They measure around 4 inches in length and because of their tiny size an aquarium tank is often prefered. Their lifespan is between 1 1/2-2 years but they can live longer. If you want to keep more than one of these hamsters then establish the relationships at a young age.
If you are thinking of getting a winter white I would advise you to go through a breeder, as pet shops often false label these hamsters.
