With a lifesapn of 1 1/2 to 2 years, the Russian Campbell's Dwarf Hamster is small and socialable pet. It is possible to keep these hamsters together as long as they are introduced at a young age. When fully grown these hamsters will be not much bigger than 4 inches long, males are larger than females. Because of their small size they may not be suitable for children as they can be more difficult to handle and will often nip.
These hamsters are unique in that a male hamster will play a role in the raising of his litter, they will assist during the birthing and give direct care to the pups.
